It’s hard for me to say, “Happy Memorial Day” because today we celebrate our soldiers who are fighting for our country and those who have lost the battle! To my friends that are overseas, I can’t wait until you are home and on American soil. Also, I pray that my friends who have loved ones at war find comfort and peace in knowing that God will take care of them.

It’s that time of year again when we gather up all of the lessons from the last 12 months and reflect on the good and the bad. As we move into another year, let’s count our blessings and appreciate those who have made it with us. Enjoy the festivities (wherever you may be) and don’t forget to give thanks! Thank you for all of the support throughout this past year and I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings.
How Successful is DaniTheDreamgirl?!
I have big dreams, but I realize that I need to start small and work my way up! I’ve been a blogger for over a year now and I touched on everything I had accomplished back in August, for my 1 year anniversary. Going into 2013 is bittersweet because I haven’t accomplished everything that I wanted to, but as I look back on 2012 I have accomplished SO MUCH. So, what has changed since my anniversary post back in August?
–I’ve conducted 7 more celebrity interviews (including Jay-Z’s nephew, Mel Carter and How to Be a Player star, Mari Morrow).
-I became an official blogger for Yahoo Voices!
-My site traffic has DOUBLED!
-I now have a mentor who is a successful blogger in the D.C. area!
-This is probably the BIGGEST announcement of all…I have made the decision to phase out my WordPress.com blog site and build a brand new site that I have 100% control over. This will take some time, but in 2013 it will officially happen (fingers crossed).
It’s been a busy year for me, but I’m so blessed to have as much success as I do. I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but I have built a very strong foundation and am looking forward to the new year! I pray that everyone who is dreaming BIG is seeing success! For those who are still stuck and don’t know what they want to do in life…that’s OK. Keep pushing and trying new things and begin to turn even the smallest of dreams into a reality! Thanks for the support and the love this year; it means the world to me! 2013, here I come!
Celebrities Can Dream Too!
Hello, world! Thank you, once again, for visiting my Dreamworld. I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Christmas with family and friends (and lots of food)! In keeping with the holiday spirit a.k.a. the warm and fuzzies, I want to highlight something that makes me warm to the core…babies! Ok, so have you ever wondered what happens AFTER a celebrity makes it or what their new set of goals might be once they actually reach celebrity status?! I do all the time! So, when I see women on the come-up or already in the business who are starting families, I loooove it! To think that they have the fame, the money, the world at their fingertips and it comes back to the basics of starting a family…that’s what it’s all about. Here’s something to just make you smile and for me to say congrats to the new mommies in the spotlight and the mommies-to-be! Enjoy 🙂

What Are You Doing to Make the World a Better Place?!
Around the holidays people tend to forget that there are many who don’t have the option to celebrate. There are so many people who are less fortunate in this world and I often believe that it is our obligation to look out for them when we can. So, this holiday season, try to give back to at least one person. It may be $5 to a homeless person on the street or it may be volunteering at your local shelter, but whatever it is MAKE IT COUNT! I don’t just talk about, I am about it as well. I will be sponsoring 2 children this year for the Holiday Gift Drive at the James G. Blaine Academic Plus school in Philadelphia. Each child in my friend’s class gets to pick 3 items that they want for Christmas and, those who are gracious enough to give, will buy the items for the child so that they can have a special Christmas! I don’t live locally so I will be making my contribution financially for this event. If you are interested and/or need something to give towards this holiday please let me know and I can pass you the information. If you think it’s just us normal folks who give back, check out a few of the top celebrity philanthropists; this should get you in the spirit!
Oprah has donated more than $41 million through the Oprah Winfrey Foundation which helps women and children gain access to education programs.
Meryl Streep has contributed over $2 million to the Silver Mountain Foundation for the Arts, which she and her husband established.
Mel Gibson, as crazy as some may think he is, has given over $6.85 million to the A.P. Reilly foundation to support the Holy Family Church!

What Will Your Weekend Bring?!
I have the luxury of being able to visit family this weekend (yay!)…that means seeing my parents, my cousins, my aunts and uncles and my best friends! To add a splash of fun in there, I’m going to see Sean Paul perform live for the first time ever! I’ll be hitting the road and driving up north in a short while and I cannot wait. What will your weekend bring you? Any big plans? Either way, have fun and enjoy your time (near or far)! In the hustle and bustle of life it’s easy to let time slip away, but make this weekend different. Go out with friends, spend time with mom or dad…whatever it is, ENJOY and be PRESENT!
