Tears of joy fell, history was made, and legacies were built. This year’s summer Olympics made me proud to be an American, as the USA earned over 100 medals. Continue reading

He’s known as the electric wide receiver for NFL’s New York Giants. On the field, he steals the show and not just because of his athletic abilities. The ladies seem to love OBJ! Continue reading
Golden State Warriors 2015 NBA Champions

Congrats to the team that remained classy from the very beginning. The Warriors fought hard and played together and deserve this victory!
Life In Prison At The Age Of 25
What seemed like a never-ending judicial process, a verdict has finally been reached in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial. Once a star athlete, making millions as a talented NFL player for the New England Patriots, he is now a convicted murderer serving life in prison. Continue reading
40 Year Old Mom Becomes Saints Cheerleader!
Now I’ve seen it all! This is just faaaaabulous. Kriste Lewis is 40 and a mother of two and just so happens to be making history.
A dance instructor recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a New Orleans Saints cheerleader and her age didn’t stop her. Kudos to Kriste and even more kudos to a classy organization for giving her a fair shot.
What dream will you choose to fulfill today?
Is J.R. Smith the New A.I.?
There is nothing sadder and more disappointing than to see an athlete with God-given abilities, waste them without so much as a flinch. I’m all for living life on the edge and doing things in an unconventional way, but when you are given chance after chance and take that for granted, that’s a problem. Most young men can only dream of playing in the NBA, so why would anyone not appreciate the chance to live out such an opportunity? It drives me crazy when I see young (black) athletes living up to the stereotype.
If you have such great skill, why is it necessary to purposely untie the shoe laces on your opponents’ sneakers while your teammate is shooting a free throw? Why do you need to skip practice to go shopping? WHY is it necessary to charge $3,000 of room service (that you didn’t even eat) to your team’s bill, only as some sick joke to see if they would keep delivering it.
It just doesn’t make sense to me! It’s all too familiar as well. We’ve seen strange behavior from all-star athlete, Allen Iverson, when he was in his prime. A.I. was one of the greatest to play, but his attitude and reputation always preceded him. From his ball-hogging antics, to his rebellious behavior to organization rules and skipping practices, it almost seems like he has been reincarnated in the league. What’s even crazier is, Allen Iverson regretted some of those bad decisions and you would think someone like J.R. Smith would want to do it differently.
I hope Smith gets it together before it’s too late. Otherwise, he’ll just be another talent wasted and ego bruised. I genuinely hope that he can find his way because the clock is ticking and people are noticing his bad-boy ways. I’m rooting for him to get it together, quickly! I like to keep my posts as positive as possible, but to see such behavior is disheartening. J.R. Smith has a golden opportunity to reach his full potential and enjoy the feeling of being one of the greats, but it is slowly slipping away.
E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes indeed, I am a die-hard EAGLES fan! That means, the Redskins suck, the Giants are fluke winners and the Cowboys are some bitches in my book and I will NEVER cheer for them! I question a man who cheers for Dallas and I will kick a girl’s ass for cheering for Dallas just because the guys she’s dating is a fan. I BLEED green and I always will! I am from PHILLY and rep for my team all-year ’round. I defend my Eagles and am proud to break out in song when they score (FLYYYY EAGLES FLYYYYY)!
So, now that we are all caught up on which NFL team I root for, it’s time to address all of you bandwagon/division haters out there. Plain and simple, we were the only team from our division who experienced a playoff game this season and WE ARE the NFC East Champions! What does this mean? While your butt was on the couch watching OUR playoff game, you were trying to think of something clever to say in case we didn’t win. It means that you were all in hiding while we went on to become 10-6 and didn’t resurface until you saw the Saints beat us by 2 points last night. I am PROUD of my team and when we DO win a Superbowl (because it’s going to happen soon), I want all of you haters to unite so we can give you a stiff middle finger all at once!
CONGRATS to by BIRDS for a great season!!!!!!!!!!! Keep on flying!!!!
Simone Biles is the First Black Woman to Win the All-Around World Championship Gymnastics Title!
Imagine being a young, female gymnast competing on the United States’ Gymnastics team. That, in itself, is an amazing achievement. Now, imagine traveling with your team to compete in the World Championships in Belgium where you WIN the all-around title; a rare and prestigious honor! All that training and time invested begins to pay off in a major way. So, you’ve gotten this far and not only do you win, but you are the FIRST black, female gymnast to achieve this victory. Who could take that away from you? Who could step in and steal some of that spotlight that you have so graciously earned? To even have to think that ANYONE could ruin such a proud moment for not just the black community, but for gymnasts all over, is a hard concept to grasp.
Young gymnast Simone Biles achieved exactly what was described above and without any hesitation, that moment of ultimate success was ripped from her when a racial slur was thrown her way. Following the victory, a member of the Italian team, Carlotta Ferlito, said in an interview (according to Yahoo! Sports), “I told (teammate Vanessa Ferrari) that next time we should also paint our skin black so that we can win, too.” Can you believe that?! Not only is it disgusting, but once again, it is the constant reminder that skin is still being looked at all around the world and racism is still very much alive!
Of course, the US had Simone’s back and said:
The United States is proud of its athletes and the success the achieved at our recent World Championships, especially Simone…USA Gymnastics is disappointed by the recent comments made by Carlotta Ferlito…Gymnastics is a global and inclusive sport with talented athletes, and there is no place for racial insensitivity.
Congrats, Simone! Keep your head up and continue to shine…this is just the beginning and the more successful you are, the more you will learn some of life’s toughest lessons. But, don’t let that stop you from being simply great!
Snoop (Dogg) Lion’s Son, Cordell Offered LSU Scholarship
News of Cordell’s scholarship offers caused much tension last year when accusations of it being a publicity stunt started surfacing. During the same time, Puff Daddy’s son was also offered a university scholarship, raising concerns on if celebrity children should be given full rides to college. Well, I’m a firm believer that if you have the talent and the intelligence, you should be given grants and scholarships just like the next person.
Cordell Broadus is one of the top wide receivers in his class and is being noticed by the top schools! Most recently, he was offered a football scholarship to mega university, LSU. To date, he has had offers from Arizona State, California, Duke, Oregon State, Tennessee, UCLA and Washington, according to Bleacher Report.
Congrats Cordell and good luck no matter which school you plan on attending in 2015!
