What seemed like a never-ending judicial process, a verdict has finally been reached in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial. Once a star athlete, making millions as a talented NFL player for the New England Patriots, he is now a convicted murderer serving life in prison.
Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of former friend, Odin Lloyd. At 25, a young man’s life will forever be changed and another man’s life is gone forever; I’m not sure if anyone could have walked away victorious, regardless of the verdict.
I’m one to play devil’s advocate, so looking at the evidence, a lot of it was circumstantial. Also, it’s important to note that Hernandez’s legal team has a successful history in post-conviction appeals. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a future appeal. Anyone with a life sentence should appeal.
Either way, this is still a sad case and many people have lost a great deal.
