There are many types of “gasms” out there, but which one have you had lately?  Was it a shoe-gasm?  A food-gasm?  Dare I say it?  An Orrrrgasm (hopefully, yes!)  Well, I just want to be sure that you’ve had a LIP-GASM and if you haven’t, I’m willing to help you reach one.

I’ve never been the type of gal to ever do a full face of make-up, i.e. foundation, concealer, contouring, etc.  However, one thing that I always have been is a lipstick hoarder!  I’ve purchased and owned many lip glosses, lip glasses (yes, there is a difference), lipsticks, lip liners…you get the point.  In my 30’s this obsession hasn’t changed, in fact, it’s gotten worse.  I visit the MAC store at least 2-3 times a month.

How did my obsession start?  I used to get ready for work, throw some eye shadow on, maybe some mascara, some blush, but I could never seem to have the right lip-anything!  Then I’d see someone at work or a friend with THE perfect color on their lips.  I used to be jealous of their lip-gasms!  What is this you ask?  It’s when you look in the mirror and everything is on point.  Hair (check). Outfit (check). Eye shadow (check). Blush (check).  Then there’s just one thing left…that perfect lipstick or lipgloss color.  When you put that finishing touch on, you smile and start doing the duck lips in the mirror, you flip that hair and start hearing Beyoncé in your head, I’m feelin’ myseeeeeelf.  THAT is when the gasm happens!  Can’t NOBODY tell you NOTHIN’.  To reach this feeling on a regular basis, try different shades, don’t always go for the nude lip.  Splash some red or hot pink in there.  When the weather turns cold, throw on some darker colors for a bold lip.  Here’s my mini collection of gasm-getters.

This little bin doesn’t seem like much, but it’s over $400 worth of lip make-up and it’s still growing.  I now have amazing shades for every occasion!  My advice is to start with the colors you know you’ll love (a color for work, everyday wear, and for night).  From there, buy a shade when you have a few extra dollars to spend and before you know it, you’ll have a great collection.  How do you reach your lip-gasm?  I’d love to know!
