Have You Ever Been Told You’re Not Black Enough?

In 2014, Black people are still being told they’re not Black enough. Recently, Bleacher Report released an article in which they accused teammates of Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback, Russell Wilson, of saying he wasnt Black enough. Whether this story is true or false, it’s really sad that an issue like this is still relevant.
On a personal note, I’ve always been told that I talk white and that I’m not Black enough. Growing up, it caused many internal complexes and a huge identity crisis. As I got older, I realized that it was pure ignorance to question someone’s race. I now understand that I am a well spoken, educated and driven Black and Puerto Rican woman.
As this issue made more traction, former NBA player, Charles Barkley, spoke out in a recent interview for WIP radio in Philly. Here’s what he had to say:
There are a lot of black people who are unintelligent, who don’t have success––it’s best to knock a successful black person down if they’re intelligent, they speak well, they do well in school, and they’re successful…
Barkley also expressed more opinions on TNT’s Inside the NBA:
What I said was, it’s a dirty secret in the black community unless you’re a thug or got a criminal record or just a jackass, some people don’t think you’re black enough…It’s a dirty little secret in our community. I want black kids [to know] we can be strong, intelligent. We just tell kids if you’re doing good in school, you’re acting white. If you speak intelligently, you’re acting white… That’s one of the reasons we as a group, us black people, are struggling. We don’t have great respect for each eachother.

Tiny Admits to Getting Eye Implant Surgery

Growing up, I always wanted light eyes because to me, that was the epitome of pretty! As I grew up into adulthood, I realized that was just a superficial desire on my part. So, you can imagine how my jaw dropped when I was on the couch late at night watching Tiny (wife of rapper T.I. and former Xscape singer) explain how she got eye implant surgery in Africa!
She always had darker eyes and now she has cool gray eyes. They acutally had to cut her eyeball open and place a cool gray implant inside of her eyeball! She had the procedure done in Africa because it is not approved in the states.

It is really sad to see a beautiful woman go through so many senseless surgeries in order to look a certain way. If you’re not aware, Tiny has admitted to having her butt done to appear bigger; let’s not get stared in those lips and that face…can we say, BOTOX?
Be beautiful in your own skin. Set a healthy example for these young girls out here!

Is Tyga Throwing Shade at Drake or Just Being Honest in Vibe Interview?
The latest issue of Vibe magazine features YMCMB’s Rack City creator, Tyga. Since joining Wayne’s all-star team, we haven’t heard much of anything from him and now we may know the reasons why. According to Tyga himself, he doesn’t mesh well with his fellow label mates. He explains:
Is Young Money a part of the creative process on this album?
Nah. I tend to distance myself from them.Are you trying to break out on your own?
Yeah, I’m tryna’ go independent. I don’t really get along with Drake. I don’t really get along with Nicki.
I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together. It is what it is. But I been friends with Chris [Brown] for like six years. That’s my real genuine friend. We hang out all the time. He lives up the street from me, so we don’t just do music we hang. I think being signed to Young Money, everybody felt like they had to force a relationship ‘cause Wayne put us together. At the end of the day the reason why I signed to Young Money is because of Wayne. Not because of Drake, not because of Nicki. It was because of Wayne and my relationship with him. I try to be cool with everybody, but sometimes, everybody just has different personalities, motives, and different characters. When you realize that, you realize that’s not a place where you want to continue to grow.
I don’t consider that shade, I think he’s just being brutally honest. Tyga is frustrated artistcally and who wouldn’t be in his position?
The good thing is, Kanye West has taken the hungry rapper under his wing and produced some tracks off of his latest album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty. Tyga is already getting some buzz about his new project since leaking one of the Kanye West produced tracks and has threatened to release the entire LP if his label doesn’t set a release date.
It will be interesting to see this drama unfold; I just want to hear some good music.
Nicki Minaj Featured in Latest Issue of GQ
I’m growing to adore female rapper, Nicki Minaj! I used to not like her because all I’d see was fake, fake and more fake. I mean, let’s be real, that butt? That’s all I’m saying.
Moving on. I’d like to say that so much was revealed in the GQ interview, but I was quite disappointed. Nicki Minaj has reinvented herself, modified her image, is being featured in almost every top track, is building an empire, and all that was focused on was the real meaning behind the “Anaconda” video (there was no deeper meaning). What a waste of an interview.
