Although we don’t have a photo of the baby, nor a name (everything is being kept pretty hush hush), it’s been reported that Ciara and Future gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Los Angeles.  Congrats to the couple on the birth of their baby; we can’t wait to see the little bundle of joy!

“On the Run” Trailer ft. Jay-Z and Beyoncé

beyonce-jay-z-on-the-run-tour-lead-600x590

Yes, yes yes…it’s true!  The two powerhouse artists came up with another genius decision by creating a trailer for their upcoming On the Run stadium tour.  Only these two seem to think of such out-of-the-box ideas that always seem to work.  The trailer is filled with top actors such as Sean Penn and Don Cheadle, but of course there’s usually a twist…the film is actually never being released (it’s a fake trailer).  BUT, if we know these two then we know that they may actually decide to release a film together.  I mean, the 3 minute plus snippet is pretty good!  Check it out:

Did Dr. Dre Sell “Beats” to Apple?

Who would have thunk it?  Many, many moons ago, hip-hop was considered taboo in a lot of ways.  Other cultures didn’t understand, nor did they want to be open minded to the lyrical content and passion ensued in the up-and-coming genre.  Present day, the industry is being saved by hip-hop music (ironic, right?) and is being praised by all walks of life.  If you go to a rap concert, many times you’ll see that most of the attendees are white, not black.  This week, another gold star can be added to the hip-hop gods accomplishment list because Dr. Dre may have done the unthinkable.

Some years back, rapper Dr. Dre, started Beats Electronics and released the very popular Beats headphones.  Many celebrities and star athletes have adopted his brand and taken it to new heights by promoting customized headphones, diamond-studded headphones, or even their team colors and logo on headphones.  It is being rumored that Dr. Dre may have become the FIRST hip-hop billionaire by selling Beats for a reported $3.2 billion to Apple.  If this is true, he will hold the number 1 spot on the Forbes list of richest hip-hop artists, over Diddy.

When you start making business deals with Apple, it’s safe to say, “Momma, I made it!”  Congrats to Dr. Dre!  He can inspire us all to believe that ANYTHING is possible!

“Who Framed Rodger Rabbit” Star Dies

This is super sad since I grew up on the popular animated film, Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.  Bob Hoskins was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2012 and lost a battle with pneumonia on Tuesday night.  Hoskins was 71 and will certainly be missed by many!

Donald Sterling Banned for Life!

Source: NY Post

You would think that racially charged comments and/or actions would be minimal within high profile organizations such as the NBA.  However, with the recent scandal involving Clippers owner, Donald Sterling, it is highly evident that this is not the case.  For those who aren’t aware, a couple of recordings in which Sterling spoke of his disgust for black people, surfaced and were made public.  In the most recent audio recording between Sterling and his multi-ethnic girlfriend (pictured above), he explained how he was disappointed that she didn’t remove all of her Black Instagram followers and that he didn’t want her bringing Black people to games.

Today, Adam Silver (the new NBA commissioner), announced that he is banning Donald Sterling for life from any association with the Clippers and the entire NBA organization.  He is also being fined $2.5 million and will be urged to sell the team.  This is a huge decision, but many believe it is more than fair, especially since the NBA includes a large number of Black players, families, employees and coaches.

As a multi-ethnic female, I am proud that the right decision was made and it was made clear that such hate and discrimination will not be tolerated.  Such behavior goes beyond the game and it effects many people, not just NBA players and coaches.

Keke Palmer Makes History As Youngest Talk Show Host!

John Varvatos Celebrates 10 Years In West Hollywood With A Private Performance By Paul Weller

Earlier this week it was announced that young actress, Keke Palmer, is entering into a new niche within the entertainment industry.  Come July, Keke will be the youngest talk show host!  BET will be launching The Keke Palmer Project, which is going to be geared towards young adults, addressing real issues.  The inspiration for having her own talk show stems from the encouragement of her fans after Keke began posting inspirational quotes on her Twitter page.

She explains:

I come from a very small, poor town just outside of the Chicago area and I know what it’s like to dream and accomplish some of your goals, but I would never want to do a show where I am preaching to anyone because I do not like being preached at…

I love sharing news like this, as it can really inspire others to dream big.  I especially like to highlight when black women are doing big things because not enough praise is given in the media.  Congrats, Keke and continue to be a positive role model for not only young people, but also for men and women of all ages!
